Phosphor Bronze Bearings are prone to oil leaks, creating a hazardous oily working area. It is also quite possible for them to leak undetected inside the Mill, which in turn would eventually contaminate the grist. |

The Leather Seals fitted to Phosphor Bronze Bearings loose their ridgety due to the saturation of oil. This allows the oil to leak out of the Bearings. Replacing a Phosphor Bronze Bearing involves Mill Downtime to allow for the accurate machining the bearings require, this is itself is a costly operation on top of the Potential Loss of Production.
